Tuesday October 23: Movies Taking advantage of "Cheap Tuesdays" we're going to go see Looper this evening, stopping for dinner at Sizzlers Buffet first.

“Pub?” I shook my head as I walked with Dean towards the Zoo gates.

“No can do, I’m going to the movies with the house, maybe tomorrow?” Dean sighed and I frowned. “What’s up?”

“I just haven’t seen you lately.” I rolled my eyes.

“You see me most days in work.”

It was Dean’s turn to roll his eyes. “That’s different. I haven’t seen you out of the uniform in weeks.”

I shrugged. It wasn’t my fault I wasn’t in the mood to be his wingman as he picked up girls in front of me. “Well sometimes I don’t want to be your wingman. It’s not fun for me.”

“Since when?”

“Since forever. I only go because you give me those puppy dog eyes and I am sucker for it. Plus you always buy me drinks. But most of the time, I don’t want to watch as you make your moves on some poor, unsuspecting woman who you’ll leave in the morning.”

Dean nodded. “Well, at least we got that one clear.”

He began to walk off and I sighed, walking quickly so I could catch his arm. “I don’t mean it horribly, I really don’t. It’s just sometimes, I would like if we could spend quality time together that wasn’t at a pub and where you weren’t going to leave me stranded as you go back to someone’s house. Do you get me?”

“Yes, I get you. Fine, we can do something in the week. Does that make you happy?”

I smiled and hugged him. “This is one of the reasons you’re one of my best friends. Do you wanna know another reason?” Dean rolled his eyes. He clearly knew what I was going to say.

“Because you have a kick ass car that could drive me home so I’m not late for dinner and the movies tonight.”

“Get in, but do not get any mud on my seats, got it?” I smiled again and quickly got inside. “You’re the best.”

“I know.”

Ten minutes later and we were outside the house. Unbuckling my seat belt, I smiled at him. “I’ll see you on Thursday?”

“Sure, need me to pick you up?” I nodded.

“If you don’t mind?” He shook his head and leant over to hug him. As I pulled away, I went to kiss him on the cheek when he turned his face so we were looking at each other. Gulping, I pulled away quickly and put on the biggest smile I could come up with. “Thank you for the ride.”

I literally raced out of the car, waving to him before I walked through the front door. Leaning my head against it, I jumped when I heard Holly’s voice.

“What’s up with you?” I opened my eyes and I shook my head, smiling again. I felt like I had done nothing but smile in the last 15 minutes. It was annoying.

“Nothing, just really tired. It’s been a hectic day at the zoo. I have never seen so many children.”

“You better not be trying to get out of movie night.” She narrowed her eyes at me.

“I’m not, I promise. I’m going upstairs to shower then I will be already.” The smile came back to her face.

“Good, we leave in half an hour.” Nodding, I made my way up to the attic, basically falling through my bedroom door. Seeing Nicole watching Supernatural, I groaned.

“Why do you do this to me?”

“Do what?”

I pointed to the television. “That, I need to get a shower but all I wanna do now is watch Supernatural and the hotness of Jensen Ackles. You’re pure evil, do you know that?” She laughed and I narrowed my eyes as I searched for my towel, dumping my bag and coat onto my bed. Grabbing it, I walked out, my eyes still narrowed.

“Evil.” I heard her laugh once more as I walked to bathroom, not in the mood for a shower.

“And I am done.” Standing up after putting my boots on, I smiled at Nicole who was sat on her bed, waiting for me. “Ready?”

“Ready.” We both made our way downstairs to find the rest of the group apart from Evie and Holly, sitting in the living room. Holly probably made Evie do her hair again. Sitting down next to Lou, I rested my head on her shoulder.

“Anyone famous today?”

“Nope, pretty average day at the station.”

“Well that sucks, I could have done with the news some famous hottie had been at the station.”

“Well One Direction are due to be interviewed next weekend.”

I pulled a face, one that she couldn’t see but probably guessed. “I said hotties, not adolescent, spotty teenagers.”

“Adolescent and teenager is practically the same thing.” Holly walked in, shiny hair and all, with Evie behind her.

“Sorry, Mrs Grammar, I forgot my dictionary.” She pulled a tongue at me, which I readily turned before I stood up, pulling Lou up from the couch. “Come on, I’m starving.”

“So, JGL is now in my top ten of hottest guys ever.” I was literally swooning as I walked out of the movies. “Even with that nose and those contacts. He doesn’t suit blue eyes though.”

“No, he looked weird. And that nose…how on earth has Bruce Willis coped with that all his life?” I laughed as Aly spoke up.

“By saying “Yippee, ki-yay mother-ckers” to everyone who teases him.” The ones that caught on groaned while the others looked blankly. “Oh come on, that was good! I had to say it.”

“It was absolutely awful.” Zara was laughing loudly.

“Truly terrible.” I glared at Skylar who had now joined us from wherever he had gone. “Nah, I’m joking, I wasn’t even here. What lame one liner did you say this time.”

Aly relayed the story and I huffed as everyone shook their heads. Skylar, however laughed.

“That was quite good, I’ll give you that.” I smiled and walked over to him.

“Thank you, I thought it was pretty good myself. The others just don’t get my movie references at all. But at least you do, so now you can walk with me back home as we discuss the best movie one liners ever said.”

Skylar groaned jokingly and I slapped him gently on the arm, mock offended as everyone else laughed and we finally began making our way back to the house.

Questionnaire time.
Name: Emily Archer
Age: 22
Birthday: 11th October, 1990
Why they’re at the house: She was kicked out of the family home.
How long they’ve been there: 2 years.
Quote or Lyric: I'm looking for a place to start, but everything feels so different now. Just grab a hold of my hand, I will lead you through this wonderland.
Occupation: Zoo keeper at Perth Zoo
Education: Studied zoology at the UWA
Bio: Emily had a good life growing up. Her family were fairly rich so she was brought up having everything she ever needed. However, don’t mistake Emily for being a spoilt brat, because she’s not. Emily, along with her twin brother Ethan, were the only ones in their extravagant family to understand the meaning of money. Whilst their parents were spending copious amounts of money on holidays to the Caribbean and many cars, Emily and Ethan spent their money wisely. Enrolling in university at 18 without her parent’s consent caused friction however her parents tried to see past it, all the while hoping she would get it out of her system and then quit so she could learn the family trade from her father and eventually take over. Yet this didn’t happen and after a major fight with her parents (mainly her mother) demanding she quit or her inheritance was lost and Emily adamant she was staying at university, her mother kicked her out as her father watched on. Within hours of the argument, she was out on the streets, carrying her clothes in bin bags. She luckily stumbled across the house after roaming the streets for hours and she still hasn’t left, 2 years on. After finishing her degree, she has a perfect job at the zoo, doing what she loves best; taking care of animals. However, lately Ethan has been urging her to get back in contact with her parent, saying that everything has blown over and that her mother has forgiven her. Emily is skeptical about reuniting with her family but something in Ethan’s voice is making her think something more serious is going on. Will she let her curiosity take over or is her pride just too damn strong to let her go?
Talent/Goal: Try to mend her relationship with her parents (more so her mother.)
Relationship Status: Seriously attracted to Dean.
Model: Jennifer Lawrence

Style: Pretty laidback, I’m a jeans and pretty top kind of girl. I don’t wear heels often but that’s because I’m tall enough. And I love lounging around in leggings and oversized jumpers.

Talent: I can’t say I have that many talents but I’m an okay singer, I’m not Whitney Houston but I can hold a note.

Parents: My mother is called Evelyn and my father is called Elliott.

Siblings: I have a twin brother, Ethan.

Family History: My family are insanely rich and have no idea about the value of money and if they do, they ignore it. I have a love/hate relationship with my mother and we’re not on speaking terms at the moment after she kicked me out because I refused to quit university. I get along really well with my dad though, who is a complete push over. And Ethan is just adorable and dorky and I love him.

Likes: Reading, Music, Animals, Chocolate milk, scented candles, being a twin, bubble baths, countless cups of tea, cooking, going on random road trips, her job, Christmas time, Cherry Coke, Chinese, knowing random bits of information.

Dislikes: her mother [sometimes], her family’s wealth, the rain, bright lights, wearing glasses, not being able to watch films, annoying children at work, Mexican food, fake eyelashes, heels, people who judge her on her last name, not being able to have a meal with her family anymore at Christmas, all things with wings [apart from aeroplanes], doing laundry.

Icon: I don’t think I really have an icon but I did love Steve Irwin and Rolf Harris growing up.

How did you find out about the House? I was literally wandering the streets with my bags when I came across the house and I was immediately allowed to stay.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? When you’re content in your life and you don’t feel the need to change yourself.

What is your most treasured possession? Probably my tiffany bracelet which was off my nan before she passed away. I never take it off.

Who is the most important person in your life? At the moment, probably Ethan seeing as he is my twin and knows me inside out.

What is your greatest extravagance? I don’t really have one, seeing as I grew up with money as saw what it can do to people so I don’t spend a lot on material things.

Where would you like to live? I haven’t really thought about it, to be honest. I like where I live now, cliché or not.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Probably my stubbornness. Or the fact that when I fall for someone, I fall hard.

What is your most significant childhood memory? Being taken to the Zoo and falling in love with all the animals. I knew there and then I wanted to work with animals.

On what occasions do you lie? When it has something to do with my feelings. I’m not very open and I am kind of stand offish so I don’t talk about my feelings a lot.

What is your greatest fear? I absolutely hate birds! They scare me and every time I see them I squeal and duck down on the floor, it doesn’t matter where I am.

What is the quality you most like in a romantic partner? I don’t like being lied to or made to look a fool so I appreciate honesty. I love it when they have the most amazing eyes, too.

What is your greatest regret? Falling out with my mother, I wish we could have sat down and talked about it but we’re both stubborn so it never happened but I knew I was in the right and I refused to back down.

What do you most value in your friends? Honesty, again. If I looked awful or I was acting like a b-tch, I would expect them to say something to me. I also like them to like nerdy stuff like LOTR and Game of Thrones and video games.

What is something you’re thankful for? The opportunity to go to university and to do something that I always wanted to do, which is work at Perth Zoo. And I am thankful for having an amazing family [excluding my mother, at the moment.

Any bad habits? I bite my nails and I have a habit of dancing on the sofa when I hear music on the television but I don’t think it’s a bad habit. Also, I have OCD so I have to have things in order and I have to do things 3 times over, so I guess that can get annoying. I am also ridiculously sarcastic and I laugh at inappropriate times.

Who was your first crush? Hmmmmmm, it would have to be Aaron Daniels, one of my oldest friends. He’s insanely attractive and at 15 we kissed after a game of spin the bottle. I absolutely loved him when I was younger and he was 2 years older which made him even more attractive but I got over it and we’re just good friends now.

Describe yourself in 5 words? Sarcastic, thoughtful, honest, nerdy, amazing cook.

What do you think of your roommate/What kinda relationship do you have? I love Nicole to bits! She’s like the little sister I never had and I’m always looking out for her. She has such a good sense of humour and our room is never quiet!

Who is favourite person in the house? Why? (Or favourite people) I refuse to choose because I love everyone. And that is the truth, sure they all have their bad habits but they are like the family I never had and I wouldn’t trade them for anything!

What is your pet peeve? Hmmm, things not being in order, the television volume being on an even number, instead of an odd one [I have OCD], dvd’s not being put back in their cases, beds that aren’t made of a morning and people who drive on their phones….so annoying!

Sam Lennon. Temper tantrums and daddy issues.
layout credit to @christi, who's sets are amazingly pretty!

Chapter 4.

Sam growled for no reason whatsoever. He had a habit of doing it frequently just because he could. In public, it made people stay away from him but at Bainbridge, no one even battered an eyelid. It was standard practise for Sam to huff and then growl. And then the protocol was to stay away from him for a little bit, unless you were Montana, who refused and managed to get him to utter more words than ‘yes’, ‘no’ and ‘go away’ once in a while. Today was one of those days and hearing the dreaded sigh, Montana stood up and walked over to him.

“What’s the matter Sam?”

“Nothing.” He wasn’t in the mood to talk, he had things to think about.

“Okay then.” Montana knew when to leave him alone so she walked back to her desk. Sighing again, he stood up and walked out into the main store collapsing into the chair that sat in the corner. His mind was filled with thoughts that Zachary had put there earlier in the day, about things that needed to happen soon.

Sam has been at Bainbridge for 10 years, following Zachary around the world on jobs and hunts, like a good employee does. But he isn’t only Zachary’s worker. Sam is part of a curse that was put on his family by Zachary many years before, when Zachary was just starting out in the Supernatural world. The curse was put on the Lennon family so that the oldest born son would have to serve Zachary until he was either killed or unable to work. Sam father, Gregory worked with Zachary for over 50 years until he died. And that’s not all the curse is about. To make things worse, the curse also states that the oldest son must have his own son by the time he turns 30 so that the curse can continue.

And that is what is worrying Sam. He is already 28 and has only 2 years to basically find someone to get pregnant and hope that it’s a boy. Not one of his family has ever failed and Sam doesn’t want to break that chain. After all, he can only imagine the consequences to be bad.

Zachary had been doing his best to help Sam, he likes him and doesn’t want him to suffer the curse’s consequences but his choices for a female partner have been questionable, questionable to Sam anyway. The first one had crooked teeth and the second had the worst hygiene problem ever. Sam didn’t know where Zachary went to find these girls but he would be completely content if he stopped. Sam himself had been looking around but he had found no one special. But now he knew he couldn’t be fussy. It was about good genes anymore, it was about finding someone he could get pregnant in an instant and wouldn’t particularly mind. But that was hard to do in present day London, even though you wouldn’t think it by looking at some of the girls that passed by the shop.

However, Sam knew one girl that would be perfect. Their child would be ridiculously attractive and a pretty natural hunter. Yet he knew it would never happen, not in a million years. Montana would never agree to it. So Sam didn’t bring it up with her or around her he didn’t want her to know. He thought about Lou and Bianca as well but there was no way he was going there, not that they would let him.

Shaking his head he sighed for what must have been the tenth time that night and looked out of the shop window, watching as a few drunken people slowly made their way along the street, careful not to trip over the road humps. Sam smirked a little, remembering how it was to be young and drunk and carefree. He still got drunk, sure but it was never carefree. Sam drunk was something the others had realised was a dangerous thing. He was temperamental at the best of times but half a bottle of whiskey in him and he was unpredictable, to the point of you didn’t what he was going to do to you if you spoke to him. He hated getting like that but he knew and Zachary knew that it was because of the curse. If he didn’t complete the curse, one of the side effects would be that he would forever be angry and eventually either end up locked up or ending his own life because he wouldn’t be able to take it. It was a sad fate but it was one that he was awfully close to having.

“How is the search?” Sam didn’t even turn his head to face Zachary, who had just walked into the cold, dark room.

“How do you think?” Sam turned to glare at Zachary who put his hands up.

“This isn’t my fault. Well, technically it is but the others never had any problems with finding a partner.”

“Well clearly I am not like the others, am I?” Sam was near growling as he spoke to Zachary, his patience wearing thin.

“Obviously not. I have been trying to help you, you are just too picky.”

“Too picky?” Sam was raging now. “The girls you have picked out were awful! It wouldn’t surprise e if you found them wandering the streets or at some whore house!”

Zachary smirked a little. “I did find two at the local crack den but they were just a joke, I want you to find someone, I don’t want you to fail.”

“Then find me someone decent!” Sam stood up and left the shop, the door slamming shut behind him. He headed for the nearest pub, his need for whiskey overwhelming. Entering the Fox and Hound pub he sat at the bar and ordered a shot of whiskey and rubbed his hands over his face.

He needed a time out from everything.

“It can’t be that bad.”

Sam looked up to see young girl, who couldn’t have been more than 20 looking at him, a small smile on her face. “Believe me, it is.”

“Tell me about it then.” Sam raised an eyebrow as she sat down beside him. “I’m a good listener.”

Smiling slightly, Sam began to tell her about why he was there, leaving out a few minor details of course, all the while his head was screaming at him that she was perfect.

Maybe he could find someone after all.

October 17th, 2012.

Sat in my sister’s room, we stared at each other, both glaring and refusing to say a word. We were waiting for our brother to get, our wise old brother who could sort any situation between us.

Noel was the extinguisher to mine and Freya’s ridiculously hot, raging fire.

The door finally opened and I turned my head quickly, almost too quickly, feeling the twinge of the action. “Noel, thank god! Tell her she is completely off her head!”

Noel smiled. “What’s going on this time?”

“What’s going on?” I was just about to answer when Freya pushed in. “I caught her having a drink with her professor, that’s what is going on!”

“He’s my professor’s assistant and we were discussing my work. Professors do that now, you know, see students out of hours to help them!”

Freya was about to speak but she was interrupted by a loud shout. “QUIET!”

Both myself and Freya immediately put our heads down, slightly embarrassed about the situation.

“Good, Freya can you go somewhere for a bit, I want to talk to Shay alone.” Freya glared and huffed but walked out anyway, slamming the door on her way out. I rolled my eyes before looking at Noel. “Hey big brother.”

“Hey little sister. Now what’s going on? Is what Freya said true?”

I nodded. There was no point lying, not about seeing him after hours. Even Noel didn’t need to know I was seeing Oliver, he would take it really well or he would flip out and I wasn’t taking the chance that it was the latter that he chose.

“Yes, I was out with Oliver but there is nothing going, he was giving me tips on my latest assignment and I was the one who sought him out.” Noel nodded.

“Okay then, if you say then I believe you.”

“Thank you.” I felt guilty but I couldn’t risk it, there was too much at stake, for both me and Oliver.

“You’re welcome. Now come here spud and give me a hug.” I laughed and walked into his arms, smiling at his familiar smell. It always made me feel at home.

“How are you?”

Noel nodded. “I am fine spud, I’m getting a promotion at work.”

“That’s amazing!” I might have squealed but I didn’t care much, I was glad things were going well for Noel.

“Thank you spud.” He smiled and then walked to the door, “I need you to disappear now while I speak to Freya.” I nodded and followed him to the door. “Where will you be? We haven’t been on our cinema trip and pub crawl yet.”

“Well remembered. I will be back at the house. Just give me a ring when you’re ready and I will meet you because knowing you and your sense of direction, you will have no chance of finding me.”

He laughed and shrugged. “I can’t deny that.”

I laughed and walked down the stairs in Freya’s house, glaring at Freya as we came face to face on the stairs.

“B-tch.”

“Wh-re.”

She glared before pushing past and I smirked. I hated her sometimes.

Leaving Freya’s, I made the small journey to my house, my head spinning as I walked. I hated lying to Noel. I had never done it before yet 5 minutes ago, I managed to lie with ease to him. It made me feel sick and I felt bad that I was making Freya out to be a liar, she was half the time but for the first time I could ever remember, she wasn’t and I was still calling her one. But I was doing it for the right reasons.

That’s what I had to keep in mind.

The Family

Evelyn Archer│44
Evelyn is the matriarch of the family. The business might have her husband’s name on it but she is the boss, at both the family business and at home. Evelyn doesn’t like it if things don’t go her way or if people don’t see eye to eye with her, which is what happened with Emily and Evelyn. Similar in character, it was their stubbornness and pride that came between them and angry that he daughter was not going down the path she had chosen for her, Evelyn kicked her out and vowed that she was never allowed back. And although she regrets the decision every day, she will never admit it. However, lately she hasn’t been feeling too great and if it’s serious, she doesn’t want to die without making amends with Evelyn. But will she stick to her word or will her pride finally give in?
Julia Roberts.

Elliott Archer│45
A self made millionaire by the age of 25, Elliott doesn’t really know the value of money anymore. After a life so long with not having to worry about going hungry, he spends his hard earned cash on anything he wants; cars, holidays, mansions. He doesn’t tend to think too much about the serious stuff in the world, he’s just happy the way he is, spending money and living his dream. He loves his family dearly and was deeply upset when Evelyn kicked Emily out but his wife made him swear he would not take her back and he has kept to his word, wary of his wife’s temper if crossed. However, he does speak to Emily at least one a month, by email, just to make sure she is doing okay. He might be scared of his wife but there was no way he was never going to speak to his baby girl again, that’s for sure.
Gerard Butler.

Ethan Archer│22
Emily’s younger twin by just 3 minutes, the pair of them are as similar as you can get for non identical twins. Like his sister, Ethan knows the value of money and has wisely invested his in a business that is not run by the family. Of course his mother doesn’t know this otherwise he would be living alongside Emily at the boarding house. Ethan is the go between of the family, keeping his mother updated about how Emily is getting on [even though she denies she even wants to hear it.] and keeping Emily in the know about her parents and family life. And when he found out that their mother could be seriously ill, he went against their mother’s wishes and told Emily, knowing that it was the perfect time to make up. He just wants his family back together again and is determined to make it happen.
Hunter Parrish.

The Job

Zoo Keeper│Perth Zoo
Emily loves her job with a passion, after all, it was her decision to study zoology which ultimately got her kicked out of her home. She works at the zoo 5 days a week and she loves the fact that every day is different. She has good relationship with all the animals [especially the giraffes] and her co workers and she can’t see herself doing anything else in the near future, especially not running the family business. Being stuck in an office is not what she wants. Emily wants variety at that’s what she gets at the zoo and she has recently been eyeing the possibility of applying for the head zoo keeper, which means more hours, more pay and more time with her beloved animals.

The Boys
Aaron Daniels│25
Aaron is the son of an old friend of the Archer family and grew up alongside the twins in Perth. Attractive and successful, he runs a company alongside his father and is due to take over it in the next year. Never short of female admirers, most only after his money, he has never indulged himself, his eye on only one girl. And that one girl is Emily. They shared a kiss in a game of Spin the Bottle at the age of 15 and he has been hooked on Emily ever since. Of course he has never told her that and he doesn’t plan on doing it either, especially since his mother has forced him into a relationship with a valuable asset’s daughter and warned him not to get involved with Emily or their will be serious consequences. He isn’t happy but he knows that if he doesn’t make an effort, he will end up on the streets like Emily but unlike her, he knows he wouldn’t make it like she has on her own. Will Emily make him see he is strong enough to get out of his parent’s hold or will he forever be under his parents’ thumb?
Steven Strait

Dean Taylor│27
Dean is the American export at the zoo. Originally from Austin, Texas, he has a cowboy’s charm and is a hit with all the ladies at the zoo, visitors and staff alike. He and Emily get along really well and even she isn’t immune to his charm sometimes. He works with the birds of the zoo, Emily’s worst nightmare and he is determined that he will make her see birds in a different light and get rid of her phobia, which she thinks is highly unlikely. Quite the double act, they usually see each other outside of work, usually down the local for a few drinks each week and Emily is slowly seeing him in a different light. However, Dean is a bit of a manwhore and likes to sleep around and date a lot. He has no idea how Emily feels and continues to come to her for words of advice, which she gives without any problems but deep down it hurts a little more each time. Will he ever see that the maybe girl of his dreams is sitting right in front of him or will he continue on his path of destruction, leaving Emily in pieces behind him?

Story;

“And these are our lovely giraffes and their main keeper, Emily. Say hello.” I internally groaned as I saw the group of school children at the fence, all smiling and giggling. All the kids chimed in with a cheerful “hello” and I rolled my eyes but planted a huge smile on my face.

“Hey guys.”

This lasted for about 5 minutes before Philip finally led them away to torment another keeper, hopefully Fiona. Finally able to relax and wipe the grin off my face, I went back to mucking out the giraffes, named Zena and Timbra and feeding them before walking back to the staff room, completely exhausted after my 12 hour shift.

“I hate kids.” Were the first words I was greeted with as I walked through the door. Looking to the couches, I saw Dean sprawled on it, his face covered with a cushion.

“Join the club, they tortured me for 5 minutes about the giraffes.”

“5 minutes? They were at the bird sanctuary for over half an hour, I deserve more sympathy here.” I laughed before grabbing my coat and bag.

“I feel for you. Now I am off home for a shower and a sleep. See you tomorrow Dean.”

I had only just left the room when I felt Dean beside me, walking in step. “What do you want Dean?”

“Oh, nothing much. I just need a wing man tonight at the pub, interested?” I rolled my eyes to mask the fact that his admission had just hit me hard, like it usually did. I felt like a lovesick teenager but I knew better. Dean was a rascal, to put it nicely and Emily knew better.

“Nah, I think I will give it a miss tonight. I’m sure it won’t take you long to find another wing man.” Dean nodded and I smiled, hoping that it didn’t look forced.

“Okay, your loss babe.” He gave me a small wave before walking on ahead. I shook my head and ignored my heart and carried on home. I need a drink and I needed one quickly.

“Hey twin.” I looked up at the door of my room where Ethan stood, a stupid grin on his face.

“Hello twin.” He walked over, giving me a quick hug before sitting on the end of my bed. “So, what’s with the unexpected visit?”

Ethan was quiet for a moment, making me worry before he spoke again. “I think you should come home and see mum.”

I raised my eyebrow, containing the scoff I wanted to sound, knowing it would only annoy Ethan. “Why would I do that? She doesn’t want to see me.”

“She does! Honestly she does. I think she has forgotten about everything that has happened now.”

I looked at Ethan sceptically. “Why would she now forget about our argument and then when she kicked me out and told me never to come back? What’s the real reason?”

Ethan sighed. “She’s sick.”

“What do you mean, she’s sick?”

“I mean she’s sick, like /sick/ sick.”

I froze. I might not have gotten along with my mother but I still loved her, no matter what. “Is it serious?”

Ethan shrugged. “I don’t know sis, we don’t know anything and we won’t until 2 weeks from now. She gets her bloods and some other test results back.”

I nodded, in pure shock. She was only 44, she couldn’t be ill. She was too young.

“This is why I think you should come home and see her. She won’t admit it but she’s scared and I know she wants to see you.”

I nodded again, unable t find any words to use. “Are you okay, sis?”

Gulping, I smiled. “Yeah, I’m fine. How is Dad coping?”

“He doesn’t know. Mum doesn’t want to tell him yet in case it’s nothing to worry about.”

“So how do you know about it?”

“She fainted in the kitchen and I came in and found her on the floor. She couldn’t deny she was ill after that.” Ethan stood and shot me a smile. “Anyway, I just came to tell you to think about coming home sometime. I know you two don’t get along but she does love you, no matter how she acts.”

Ethan kissed my forehead and went to the door. “Love you sis.”

“Love you too.” I let him see himself out as I thought about what he had just told me. After the fight we had that landed me here at the boarding house, I had had no contact with her, only Ethan and sometimes Dad’s word about how she was doing. I never thought I would hear Ethan telling me that she was sick though and that it could be serious.

Could I go to see her after everything that had happened? I didn’t know if my pride could take the bashing that would no doubt come with the visit. I would feel like I as giving into her and grovelling for forgiveness even though I had done nothing wrong. But how could I not see her if she ends up really sick?

I was in one big dilemma.

And I hated dilemmas.

Lou Rickards. Fiery eyes and shackled wrists.
Chapter 3.

Lou surveyed the room like she always did, every day and every night. She seldom moved from her desk, partly because she was comfortable and partly because she wasn’t actually allowed to. Well she allowed to leave her desk but leaving the room was not an option, not on her own anyway. Appearances can be deceptive and in Lou’s case, they definitely are. She barely looks like she is the legal age to drink in England and looks like an angel, but in reality, she is about 73 years old and once upon a time, she wasn’t as cute. But onto why she can’t actually move or actually leave Bainbridge Antiques without Zachary as her escort.

20 years ago, Lou was pretty much evil. You wouldn’t actually believe it to look at her but she’s a Dragon, a huge, scaly red dragon. Residing in the Yellow Mountains of China, causing havoc near enough everyday and large scale damage to the cities nearby and below. A difficult thing to catch, she was finally apprehended in the 1990’s, by a group of specialised hunters. Not knowing what to do with her, she was taken to Zachary who was then given the task of being her keeper, making sure she didn’t escape again and kill anymore. Zachary wasn’t exactly pleased but took her on anyway and she has been with him ever since.

At first she wanted to escape and tried numerous times at the beginning of her ‘sentence’ so to speak but after realising she was never actually going to escape, not with Zachary holding her, she gave up and resigned herself to the fact that being a prisoner was her life. She’s not bitter though and she help the others out on cases seeing as she is ridiculously intelligent. But she is only allowed the do research and she’s okay with that. The others love her and even Zachary has grown fond of her over the years.

But back to the present.

Finishing up with Sam and Leon’s research, she relaxed in her chair, stretching her arms above her head, smiling as she heard the satisfying click. Watching as Zachary looked over his workers, Sam stared not so subtly at Montana and Bianca flirting terribly with Leon, she stood up and walked over to Henry, who was staring into space. Smirking, she stood behind him and put her lips next to his ear.

“Boo.”

Henry jumped up, frantically turning around to see what the noise was and Lou was in stitches. She caught the eye of Zachary who just smirked slightly and shook his head at her antics. She was quite the joker and everyone knew not to let their guard when she was around. She’d had years to perfect the art of sneaking up on people.

“Don’t do that.” Lou smiled at him.

“Why not, you know you love it. It keeps you on your toes, old man.” He shook his head but she knew that he agreed. He was an old man and although he wasn’t losing his touch, she knew he wasn’t his spritely self of late.

“I suppose so.” It was five more minutes before Henry spoke again and that was only to tell them all he was leaving. Lou pouted as he walked away and took a seat in his vacated seat. She had the hots for him, it was as simple as that. But Henry being the old gentleman that he was, he either noticed and was too nice to do anything about it or he was completely oblivious to it. Everyone, including Lou opted for the latter one. But it wasn’t just Henry, it was pretty much all the men at Bainbridge Antiques. They were the only men she ever saw and she was a young girl, in appearance, so to speak. And young girls needed young men to relieve certain urges however it was never going to happen and especially not with Henry. She had more chance with Zachary and that was a near damn impossible task.

Sighing, she went back to her usual hobby of watching the others. Montana was stressing, Lou could clearly tell and her glances towards Zachary who had now gone over to her and was reading a file were all but obvious. Montana wanted Zachary and by the smirk on Zachary’s face, who could clearly either feel the tension radiating off Montana or knew he was making her uncomfortable in more ways than one, he definitely knew and he wanted her too. Lou made a bet in her head of it taking the two of them three months before anything happened. She couldn’t be sure but that’s the feeling she was getting. Turning her attention away from the pair, she watched Sam as he continuously glanced at Montana and Zachary, his face growing fiercer as the minutes passed by. Jealousy didn’t suit the handsome man at all. Bianca was all but all over Leon, who wasn’t interested, anyone could see it, apart from Bianca, who was still trying in vain. She shook her head at the group. How they all managed to work with each other was one of life’s mysteries, it had to be.

Lou turned her attention to the grandfather clock sitting in the corner of the small room, it’s grandness making the room seem even smaller, if that was actually possible. She watched as the big hand hovered on the last minute before finally hitting 12. The chime was loud, louder than usual and Lou smirked as the group all jumped out of their skins. Renowned hunters scared of a clock chime? Lou had to remember that one. Laughing quietly, she ignored the glares she was getting and let her eyes wander the ever familiar room. She knew the room inside out and back to front. Nothing new had ever been added to the room since they first occupied it and she could tell you what was where with her eyes closed. Like there was a small pocket watch which was nearly all hidden apart from a little of the face was visible, on the unused desk by the window. And there was also an old perfume bottle in the cabinet that sat on Zachary’s desk. Lou had always been intrigued as to who it belonged too, Zachary wouldn’t have kept it if it didn’t mean anything, but she never had the guts to ask. You could only push Zachary so far before he snapped and Lou didn’t want to be the one on the receiving end of the tirade. But her favourite piece was the old feather quill was on the bookshelf nearest the backdoor. It was clearly old and pure white and it made Lou think of all sorts of things, like the olden days and even Harry Potter, which she had to admit even being as old as she was, she loved with a passion.

“Lou, over here.”

Lou raised an eyebrow at Zachary, who had shouted at her. He glared before rolling his eyes.

“Please?”

Lou smiled and stood up, happily making her way towards Zachary and Montana.

“Yep?”

“Get as much information as you can about Changelings. I have a feeling there is one residing in Hamersmith at the moment.”

Lou shuddered. “I hate changelings, their reflections are stomach turning. Plus they eat their pretend parents…that’s just cruel. But yeah, I’ll get onto that.”

Lou walked over to the bookshelf, grabbing a whole load of english mythical creatures books and dropped them onto her desk, causing everyone to jump once more. Glaring at her, Lou smirked.

“Oooops. Sorry, it was an accident.” Laughing again, she took to her desk and began flicking through the books. It was going to be a long night.

Now, i don't think i have preference for a model, but i do sometimes hate using lesser known models but only because they have no pictures and i don't like mainstream either, so an actress is probably your safest bet with me but feel free to name anyone and i will decide whether or not i like them!

tagging people who might be able to help me; @chrissykinz, @sarahstardom, @kkerry, @elizabeth-kate [i know you're already looking for me because you're a doll] @ingrid ...but please, anyone feel free to suggest!

Montana Highbourne. Conflicting minds and irritating bosses.
most likely to be re-written in the future. i don't like it because personally, i have a lot more to say about Montana but at the moment, i am drawing blanks so i am posting what i have for now. so yeah, this is subject to change.

Chapter 2.

In the corner of the small, poky room was where Montana sat, chewing her ever faithful pen as she looked over her case file. She was on the hunt for, well she didn’t actually know what she was on the hunt for but whatever it was, it was nasty. She flipped her brunette hair in annoyance as she racked her brains for any lore she had heard about that even resembled the signs that she was seeing. Giving up, she put the pen down and sighed, leaning back in her chair.

She was drawing blanks. And her mind was clearly elsewhere.

Montana was not so much the odd one out in the group but sometimes she felt as though she was the one who drew the most attention and it wasn’t down to her looks. The American export among a group of British hunters, Montana felt out of place half the time, what with the strange accent and the kooky words that no one ever seems to use. However, she got around it with the fact that she was a great hunter. Brought up in New York City, at the age of 13, she discovered the place was a hunting ground for all things weird and dangerous. Trained by her daddy, who to Montana, was kind of like a slightly less cool version of John Winchester in her mind, she knows all the tricks of the trade which is what caught Zachary’s eye. To be fair, he was the object of her hunt when they first met but he saw her spark and talent and decided he needed her. She doesn’t speak much about her past life in America, preferring to keep quiet when the subject of family comes up. There is only one person who actually knows the deal and that’s Sam but he won’t speak a word of it to anyone but that’s only because he doesn’t speak that much in the first place.

As she eyed the room and its occupants, her eyes focused on two people. The first one was Sam, her usual partner and sort of confidante. And the other was Zachary, the bane of her existence but the man she owed her life to. She had a soft spot for both, not that she would ever admit that to the latter of the pair. However, Montana knew the risks of feeling s when it came to a job like theirs and so she kept her emotions buried, although it was hard to do when your boss likes to wind you up and you have the patience of a grizzly bear and he likes call you ‘Monty’ every chance he gets. Montana and Zachary’s fights were legendary and the others knew to leave the room when these began to spar. Their fights were heated and tense, everything you’d expect from a couple of people who clearly have high running emotions for each other yet refuse to admit them. There have been a few times were ‘the moment’ has came around but Montana being Montana and Zachary being himself, they have been forever brushed under the carpet and never spoken of again. But aside from the bubbling sexual tension and continuous teasing, they get on well. Plus the fact that she owes Zachary her life means she kind of has to be nice.

And to elaborate on that, he saved her from a Barghest, a pretty nasty, huge dog which appears only at night to kill its victims. It caught Montana out, who had gone in without any knowledge of what she was facing and Zachary got to her just in time otherwise she would have been dog food. Since then, Montana has been grateful to Zachary for what he did and especially grateful that he didn’t tell anyone what happened on that night.

It’s now a forbidden topic between the two of them. Never to be spoken of again. Ever.

Yet somehow lately Montana has been feeling awfully obliged to somehow thank him in some way although she knows it’s a completely moronic idea that would never end well. So what has she done to stop herself from saying anything? She’s avoided any close contact or one on one interactions with Zachary. It’s completely noticeable to everyone in the room however they know better than to mention it to either of them, for the risk of getting their heads bitten off. So Montana has been plodding along with her work, managing to dodge most conversations with her boss, which is suiting her fine, for the most part.

“Stuck?”

She was brought out of her thoughts by Sam, who was perched on the edge of their desk. Montana nodded and reached over, grabbing her file and handed it to him. “Can you work out what this thing is? It’s doing my head in.”

Sam took it but his eyebrows furrowed instantly. “This is…old. You know who you’re best asking?”

Montana groaned almost instantly. “No, I am in no mood to be called Monty today.”

“Then be prepared to be here until morning.” Sam walked off, leaving Montana to roll her eyes at the thought of asking Zachary for help. There was no way she was doing it.

No way whatsoever.

“Need help?” Zachary’s voice filled the room, the mocking tone evident for her and the rest of the group to hear. Montana instantly nodded and cursed herself for being weak. The plan had been resist but that clearly had gone out of the window. “Let me see.” Zachary took Sam’s seat and flicked through the information she had gathered. Montana glared at him the whole time he was reading, wanting to rub that smug look he had on his face signifying he knew what it was she was dealing with.

She hated him.With a passion.

Well, she hated the way he made her feel.

But that still counted as hating him, so she did.

She hated him.

Zachary Bainbridge. Fake antiques and raging tempers.
Chapter 1.

The light was dim but if you looked hard enough in the window of the old antique shop on the corner of Windsor Way, you could see the faint flicker of a candle in the back room. Of course, you couldn’t see who was there alongside the candle, taking in the dim, soothing light but nonetheless, the candle was enough to hold anyone’s attention for a couple of minutes. Fully aware of the curious glances into the shop, the owner only smirked as he continued to smoke his pipe, watching as the smoke filled the room in all kinds of shapes, shapes he had created before he vanished them, made them disappear without leaving any trace that they had once occupied the room. He was good at that, it was his talent, one of his many talents. Making things disappear as if they never existed. He took pride in the fact that he had such power in his hands. But as he watched himself make smoke shapes disappear, he couldn’t help but wonder why he was wasting his talent on such a mediocre task. He knew why, of course and the smash of the crystal ash tray which was sat next to him on the ornate side table only made the confirmation more real. He was past it, past his prime and it would only be a matter of years before he was swept away by the tide and forgotten about. His name would never be remembered, instead it would fade away into oblivion.

Zachary Bainbridge, the forgotten man.

Of course, this was Zachary being dramatic, having nothing better to do with his time apart from think about the impending future which he has had many a year to do. Sighing harshly and loudly, disturbing the cat, Monty, who was perched on the desk beneath the window, Zachary stood up and walked into the adjoining room, pausing before he opened the door for just a second, closing his eyes in anticipation before he finally opened the door and walked into the room.

The room in question was a small, poky place, made to look worse by the stacks of paper and books that littered the floor and any surface that was available. It also didn’t help that it contained 6 people who were near enough shoulder to shoulder as they tried to do, what appeared to be, work of some sort. Of course, it was not normal work. No, it was the kind of work that you wouldn’t believe until you saw it. Even reading about it wouldn’t make you a believer. Zachary closed his eyes as his ears tried to grow used to the loud voices that bounced off the four, small walls but it didn’t work. And he decided he would let them all know about it.

“Quiet!” The place immediately became silent as Zachary’s, low, baritone voice bellowed. Zachary smirked at his handiwork and took a seat at his desk, his feet swinging up to land on said desk, which he had claimed as his own. “Thank you. Anything new tonight?”

At first the question was left unanswered, the room still silent before one of the six, aforementioned people decided she would be the one to talk.

“Nothing yet but it’s only early. Sam and Leon are still working on the Gratton Road case, though.” The dulcet, American accent filled the room and Zachary rolled his eyes. Of course it was Montana who spoke up. This was a daily routine; Zachary startled them and then Montana would speak and then bang, everyone would then begin to talk, like she had given them their voices back.

“Thank you Monty.” Zachary heard a faint growl and only chuckled. It was his favourite past time, apart from working on cases, to wind up Montana Highbourne, one of his employees. She was easily riled therefore an easy target that left herself open for ridicule from Zachary. Of course there was another reason he liked to wind her up, she was attractive when she was angry. And Zachary couldn’t help himself, he was only a man, albeit a man who is over 100 years old, but a man just the same.

Now let me introduce you to Zachary Bainbridge before you get confused about how he is over 100 years old. Zachary was born in the late 1800’s, he thinks it was in 1873 but I believe it was in fact more likely to be 1875. He was born into a wealthy family; The Bainbridge’s were known for their affluence and their extravagant parties and Zachary grew up spoilt, like most children in that situation would. His life was relatively normal up until the age of 30. He was due to be married in the October of 1905, to a spiteful woman named Roberta Jameson, another spoilt child of a rich family which he was very unhappy about. His temper had gotten him into trouble before, a temper which was clearly inherited from his father, but on this night, it was different. After an argument with his father about his inheritance, he left to go drinking at a local inn, as they were called in those days. He could have only been in there an hour when he got himself into a fight, his smart mouth a little too loose for the locals to handle. Half an hour later, he found himself in an alley way, but instead of being bruised and bloodied up like he should have been, considering his abbreviated state, he was spotless and pristine. It was the other guys who looked like they had been through the mill and back. Not knowing what had happened, Zachary went home to his father, who proceeded to tell him that wasn’t going to age past 30 unless he actually wanted to. Some sort of curse, his father told him but Zachary was skeptical and decided to leave London for New York, where he settled immediately into the lifestyle. It was only in 1910 that he realized he was indeed still looking the same. By then, his father had passed away but rather than be completely freaked out, Zachary took it in his stride and still to this day, it does not bother him one bit. Let’s face it, would you if you got to run in the same circles as Al Capone and Eliot Ness? I didn’t think so. He also developed a range of powers, his ability to make people and things disappear the one he was most proud of and still is, really. He can do a load of other stuff but nothing seems to beat his favourite ability.

From that moment on, Zachary has lived a life full of deception, women, money and cars and has loved it all. Even now as he looks back he wouldn’t change a thing although otherwise would disagree. There is only one downside to his luck, as he calls it and that is his uncontrollable temper and the need to be in control. While he might not age, his temper gradually gets worse as the years go by. And he’s old now so you can imagine how bad his temper actually is. Bring it out fully and he can destroy buildings within a 5 mile radius. (He knows this after having a fight with one of his fellow colleagues/former friend but you will learn about that later.) It’s the one thing he can’t get under control, add that to the fact that he has to know about everything and is has a compulsive need to control others, let’s just say poor Zachary is flawed more than the average man.

Now onto the company. Bainbridge Antiques as you can now probably work out is a front for one of Zachary’s more outlandish hobbies. And this hobby would be killing anything supernatural or superhuman or just not human in general. See, after working out he wasn’t going to age and also had powers alongside that, Zachary looked into all things supernatural and discovered that he wasn’t the only thing out there who wasn’t technically human. He was a good guy (I use the term ‘good’ loosely) but others weren’t so nice so in his spare time (which was the time not spent drinking and smoking and playing poker and smuggling) he decided to hunt these things and he has been doing it ever since, only now he isn’t on his own. Along with 6 others, he now runs a business which indulges his hobby and it’s hidden behind the guise of his daytime living; running an antiques shop, he despises antiques but it was the only thing he could come up with on the spot and has had to live with that god awful decision ever since. Zachary has 6 employees; Montana (who you have already heard a little about), Lou, Henry, Sam, Leon and Bianca. What they do, I will elaborate on later but they are vital to Zachary’s business and though he might not show it (he never shows it, actually) he does appreciate their help.

Sometimes.

“How is the Gratton case?” Zachary had an authoritative voice and like a teacher silences his class as he walks into the room, the guys stopped talking to listen.

“It’s fine. It’s only a poltergeist.” Sam spoke up first, lifting his head up from the desk he shared with Montana (something Zachary didn’t like but I will explain more later).

“Then why are you here and not there sorting it out if it is that easy?” Sam looked sheepish and turned to Leon, who’s eyes were narrowed in Sam’s direction.

“It’s a lot more powerful then we first thought. But we should be rid of it by tomorrow.” Leon sounded slightly ashamed that he had not finished what seemed to be a simple task at the beginning of the day.

Zachary nodded, his expression neutral so no one knew what his reaction was going to be. Bianca, who was furthest away, braced herself, ready for an onslaught of profanities to reach her ears and the others bowed their heads, used to their employers volatile temperament. However, the shouting did not come and they all looked up in surprise.

“Take Montana with you and make sure you have it done by tomorrow or I will shout at you.” They all nodded and Leon walked over to Montana and Sam’s desk, ready to work out their next move. “You think I was a big bad monster.” Zachary mumbled, to which Lou and Henry heard and smirked at each other before looking back to their work.

Zachary reclined in his chair and watched as all 6 of his staff laughed and joked and buzzed about former cases and recent cases and cases they hadn’t yet finished. Zachary felt a small smile come to his face but he quickly wiped it away and decided to remain stoic, something which he knew put them on edge from time to time. He wished he could show more emotion, emotion other than anger but it was impossible for creatures to do so easily so he did the only thing he knew how.

He shouted.

“GET TO WORK!”

And in a twisted way, they all knew that it meant he cared.
